25th Annual Paper Theatre Festival | Exhibition
The UC San Diego Library hosts the 25th Annual Paper Theatre Festival as an exhibition at Geisel Library. The display runs July 14 through September 27, 2026. It is on the 2nd floor in The Nest and is free and open to the public during regular building hours.
This year's festival showcases 25 years of miniature theatrical works from students, staff, alumni, and community members. The exhibition includes pieces by Rachel Almodovar, Elizabeth Hines, Carin Wallace, Anastasia Hunter, Christina Continelli, visiting artist Nancy So Miller, and curator Scott Paulson.
Paper theatre, also called toy theatre, uses small stage sets and paper dolls to reenact plays. It was a popular Victorian-era pastime. The exhibition highlights the Library's role in reviving this educational hobby.
To request a pop-up performance at the exhibition, email Scott Paulson at spaulson@ucsd.edu.
