Comics of Care is a book exhibit exploring how art and storytelling help us understand health and healing. It runs June 29 to September 13, 2026 in the breezeway of Sally T. WongAvery Library at UC San Diego. You can visit during the building's open hours.
The exhibit features comics, graphic novels, and memoirs from the library's Graphic Medicine Collection. These are personal stories about facing illness and finding care. A single drawing often captures what words cannot.
About the Exhibit UC San Diego librarians Jeffery Loo, Karen Heskett, and Zemirah Ngow curated the collection. It is presented in connection with The Science of Story, a campus celebration during Comic-Con week.
This exhibit is for patients, caregivers, clinicians, and anyone interested in how narrative deepens empathy for health struggles.
