Summer with Stuart Concert Series
Thursday, July 23, 6 to 7pm
The second annual Summer with Stuart returns as a pop-up concert series set among UC San Diego's Stuart Collection artworks. Local chamber musicians perform each week at a different outdoor sculpture site. Every concert is free, family friendly, and runs about an hour.
Concert by Left Coast Quintet at La Jolla Project
This week the Left Coast Quintet plays at Richard Fleischner's La Jolla Project, known as Stonehenge. Five wind players (flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and bassoon) move from Baroque counterpoint and Classical-era works to contemporary pieces and arrangements of jazz and film music. The ensemble is known for warmth, humor, and polish, whether playing a Baroque partita or a film-score medley.
A six-week series at iconic campus artworks
Earlier this season Westwind Brass kicked off the series at Niki de Saint Phalle's Sun God, celebrating America's 250th birthday with Sousa-style marches, jazz standards, Broadway showstoppers, and Hollywood film scores. Each week brings a new ensemble to a different Stuart Collection artwork.
The series suits San Diego families, art lovers, and anyone curious about chamber music in an unexpected outdoor setting.
