Knot Together
Mingei International Museum hosts Knot Together, a macrame workshop, on September 11, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Balboa Park in San Diego. Fiber artist Sitoe Thiam leads the class. Tickets run $45 to $65, and museum admission is required.
What You Will Make
The September session teaches a knotted rope wall hanging built from four foundational knots. The workshop is part of Mingei's Together series, which has covered sewing, weaving, dyeing, stitching, and clay in past sessions. It is open to all skill levels. Thiam founded Unknot, a design studio focused on knotting and weaving, and works as a mechanical engineer.
The Venue
Mingei International Museum is at 1439 El Prado in central Balboa Park. The series draws on the museum's To Catch a Fish exhibition, which features traditional fishing nets and nautical knots.
The low-pressure format suits San Diego makers who want to try fiber art alongside a museum visit.
