Paint and Sip

The San Diego History Center hosts a Paint and Sip evening on September 3, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Gossip Grill, 1220 University Avenue in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego. Local artist Maira Meza leads a guided painting session. Admission is $40 per person, and all materials are provided.

What You Will Paint

The session centers on a palm tree scene inspired by Kate Sessions, the botanist and landscape architect known as the Mother of Balboa Park. History Center staff share how Sessions introduced diverse plant species to San Diego and shaped its public gardens. No painting experience is required, and the class is open to all skill levels.

Food and Drink

Gossip Grill sells drinks and food during the event. The $40 painting fee does not include food or beverages.

The evening pairs a hands-on art class with local history in a Hillcrest bar setting. It suits San Diego adults who want a low-key creative night out.
