San Diego 5K SCADaddle for Research
The San Diego 5K SCADaddle for Research is a timed 5K run and walk on September 12, 2026 at Crown Point Park on Mission Bay in San Diego. The start is at 9:00 am on the south end of the park, with the course following the bayside walkway. Registration is $48.70 for ages 12 and up and $27.50 for ages 6 to 11, including fees. Parking is free.
The Cause
The event raises money for research into spontaneous coronary artery dissection, or SCAD, a cause of heart attack that most often affects young, active women without typical heart-disease risk factors. Organizers cite SCAD as the leading cause of heart attacks in women under 50, including pregnant women and new mothers. Participants who raise at least $1,000 have their registration fee refunded.
Awards and Extras
Awards go to the overall male and female winners, with medals for second and third place and for the top three finishers across nine age groups from 11 and under through 70 and up. Post-race extras include made-to-order acai bowls from Alohana Acai Bowls, face painting, and vendors. Registering by August 15, 2026 guarantees this year's t-shirt.
Crown Point sits on the south shore of Mission Bay in the Pacific Beach area. The run suits San Diego walkers and runners who want a flat bayfront course supporting medical research.
